Book Value

Stocks & Shares
A company's total assets minus liabilities, divided by the number of outstanding shares. Book value per share represents the theoretical value each shareholder would receive if the company were liquidated.
Example: A company with $100 million in assets, $20 million in liabilities, and 10 million shares has a book value of $8 per share.
